On the afternoon of July 18, the first member assembly of the WLAN Application Alliance (WAA) was successfully held in Beijing. The Council members elected by all members held the first meeting of the first Council and elected Ping Zhang as the first President of WAA.

Immediately after his election, Mr. Ping Zhang delivered a wonderful speech at the General meeting. With consent, we publish the full text of Mr. Zhang Ping's speech as follows:

Ladies and gentlemen,

First of all, thank you for your trust and support. I am very pleased to be elected as the first President of WAA.

Digitalization is profoundly changing our social economy and industry development, and WLAN is one of the important pillars of the network infrastructure in the digital world.

The application of WLAN in thousands of industries is undergoing the change of "breadth, depth and strength"; The Internet of everything is its important feature.

Under the background of this era, WAA came into being. We should not only make everything "connected", but more importantly, let the application "pass" and the user "use it well".

The development of WAA is to find a blank spot in the industry standard of "performance experience". This is why our alliance is called "Application Alliance".

Thousands of words condensed into one sentence, that is, "the establishment of the WLAN Application Alliance is born for WLAN application!"

The construction of WAA will adhere to the basic concept of "openness, cooperation, and win-win".

After a year and a half, our preparatory working group organized many meetings and discussions, widely listened to opinions, pooled wisdom, and laid the foundation for the establishment of the "Open Alliance".

The government has given a lot of help in the registration process of the alliance, and has given a lot of guidance on "venue, operation, and development direction", which has benefited a lot.

We are actively communicating with international organizations and building extensive cooperative relations. The prosperity of industrial ecology requires consensus and common growth!

Thanks to the concentric efforts of all aspects, so that the alliance was established!

As the international situation changes, we should shoulder more and more responsibilities for world development. This responsibility will be addressed by standards that are agreed upon by all. Solving existing problems and difficulties in the implementation process, as well as providing vision and means for future development, these are our work to do.

Different industries, different groups of people, different countries, have different requirements. How to use a platform to respond to the different needs is contradictory and difficult. This shows the value of our alliance. We need to organize different needs and use a mature platform to meet these needs, the challenge here is quite big, we need our members to work together to do it well.

At this moment, we see several of our member units across the mountains and oceans, across time and space, for a common vision, get together. I am reminded of Xizhi Wang's words in the Preface to the Lanting Collection: "When the wise are gathered, the salty collection is less long." Let's wish WAA a strong growth!

The vision of the WAA is to provide the best wireless local area network experience for the digital world.

The goals of WAA  are:

1. Build an open and international WLAN industry development platform;

2. Establish a scenario-based WLAN authentication system and a complete performance standard system;

3. Build the best WLAN application experience.

Resume of Mr. Ping Zhang

Ping Zhang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, leader of innovation research group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Academician Ping Zhang has been committed to the theoretical research and technological innovation of mobile communication for a long time, and has made fundamental contributions to China's independent technology. He has won one grand prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, three second prizes of the National Technology Invention Award, and two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
